October 29–30: Now Accepting Participants for the Art & Wine Special Tour!

《Hirayama Ikuo Silk Road Museum × Yamanashi Prefectural Museum of Art Joint Project: Art & Wine Special Tour》
In conjunction with the special exhibitions currently being held at our museum and the Yamanashi Prefectural Museum of Art, we will hold a cultural tourism experience tour where participants can comprehensively enjoy the region’s cultural, natural, and culinary resources.
Dinner will be served inside the museum, featuring cuisine by Chef Waragai of Restaurant Ashihana. In autumn Yamanashi, enjoy a wellbeing-focused experience together with senior sommelier Yasunobu Komaki.

【Overview】
〇 Day 1 (October 29): Senior sommelier Yasunobu Komaki, who lives at the southern foot of the Yatsugatake Mountains, will accompany participants on the bus from the meeting point as a guide.
〇 A museum curator will provide a special guided tour of “Thermae: Connecting Ancient Rome and Japan Through Bathing,” an exhibition commemorating the 45th anniversary of the Yamanashi Prefectural Museum of Art.
〇 In November 2017, Hombo Shuzo opened Mars Hosaka Winery as a winemaking base to further improve quality. The winery also produces red wine using grapes from Komaki Vineyard.
Lunch will be a Japanese-style bento from the popular local restaurant Aina Katsunoya, specially prepared to pair with wine, served in the winery’s seminar room with two glasses of wine.
Afterward, Daisuke Motegi, the winery’s head winemaker, will guide participants through the vineyard, winemaking facility, and rooftop, followed by a special seated tasting of three wines.
〇 At the Hirayama Ikuo Silk Road Museum, a museum curator will provide a special guided tour of the exhibition “Ikuo Hirayama: Painting Archaeological Sites — From the Middle East to the Mediterranean.”
Participants will also enjoy a welcome drink while viewing the evening scenery.
〇 In the museum’s privately reserved 2nd-floor museum café, Chef Kazunori Waragai of the French restaurant Ashihana will prepare a special dinner, which was very well received during the March tour. Guests will also enjoy the Hirayama Ikuo Silk Road Museum limited-edition wine, featuring a painting as its label. This wine is not for sale.
At the dinner venue, three artworks related to the wines featured on the tour will be displayed and explained. Sommelier Komaki will provide commentary on the museum’s original wine.

〇 Accommodation will be either at Royal Hotel Yatsugatake, a highland resort hotel with views of the Yatsugatake Mountains, Mount Fuji, and the Southern Alps, featuring a large hot spring bath and open-air bath, or at Komaki Vineyard, surrounded by vineyards in Kobuchisawa at the southern foot of the Yatsugatake Mountains, with guest rooms or glamping options. Breakfast is included.
Guests staying at Komaki Vineyard may bathe at Enmei no Yu, the hot spring facility attached to Spatio Kobuchisawa, after dinner. A hot spring admission ticket will be provided. Transportation will be arranged after bathing.
〇 Day 2 (October 30): Participants will visit the vineyards of Komaki Vineyard, enjoy a mini wine seminar, and take part in a wine tasting with an assortment of cheeses from Kobuchisawa.
〇 At the end of the tour, participants will enjoy lunch at Wine Café Merle, located within Komaki Vineyard, with two glasses of wine included, followed by shopping.
