Fossil-Related Program: Workshops
In connection with the Fossil Excavation Experience 2023, the museum will hold the following workshops.
To allow visitors to enjoy the workshops together with the excavation experience, the application times have been shifted by one hour.
In order to allow as many people as possible to participate, each household may apply for up to two types of workshops. We look forward to your participation.

“Creating a Full-Body Dinosaur Reconstruction Model”
For 4th-grade elementary school students and older
Participants will add clay flesh to a Tyrannosaurus skeletal model.
◆ Instructor: Hirokazu Tokugawa, paleo-reconstruction sculptor
◆ Date and Time: Saturday, July 22, 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Duration: 3.5 hours
◆ Meeting Place: Special venue inside the 2nd-floor café of the museum
◆ Participation Fee: ¥3,000
*High school students and older: ¥3,500, including museum admission.

“Creating a Tyrannosaurus Head Reconstruction Model”
For elementary school students and older
Participants will experience making a reconstruction model by adding colored clay flesh to Favorite Co.’s Honekesh Tyrannosaurus, created under the supervision of dinosaur reconstruction artists and researchers.

“Dinosaur Diorama Workshop: Time Travel to the Cretaceous Period!”
Choose your favorite dinosaur figure and materials from a wide selection, and create your very own dinosaur world! You may also bring your own favorite dinosaur figures or special materials.

“Dinosaur Wire Art Workshop”
For elementary school students and older
Choose one dinosaur or shark template from five to six options, and create a wire art decoration. Dinosaur craft kits that can be made at home, as well as finished works, will also be available for purchase.

“Reconstruction Drawing Workshop”
For junior high school students and younger
This workshop invites participants to create a reconstruction drawing based on dinosaur skull illustrations. Participants may choose from three skulls: Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, or Allosaurus.
When creating a reconstruction drawing, the most important thing is to understand the skeletal structure accurately. Participants will begin by carefully tracing a skull illustration, and then reconstruct the dinosaur into a lively figure with flesh and skin.
This is the actual method I use in my professional work, so please take this opportunity to experience the techniques of a professional.
