March 23–September 9: 2024 Spring/Summer Exhibition “Ikuo Hirayama: The Transmission of Buddhism and Traces of His Journeys”

March 23, 2024 – September 9, 2024

The Hirayama Ikuo Silk Road Museum will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2024.

To commemorate this milestone, the museum will hold the exhibition “Ikuo Hirayama: The Transmission of Buddhism and Traces of His Journeys.” The exhibition will feature The Transmission of Buddhism (1959), which marked the starting point of Ikuo Hirayama’s artistic career, as well as early works such as Southern Route of Tianshan at Night, presented the following year. It will also include the “Life of the Buddha” series, works depicting various regions along the Silk Road, and materials related to Hirayama’s creative process.

With special cooperation from the Saku Municipal Museum of Modern Art and the Hirayama Ikuo Museum of Art, this exhibition looks back on Ikuo Hirayama’s early creative years and introduces the richly varied world of his paintings.
